Borderlands 4 is getting another shot at attracting players, as Gearbox Software launches a free weekend for the looter-shooter. And while free access is likely the biggest reason behind the recent increase in players, the arrival of a new and rather eye-catching playable character may also be helping.

According to recent Steam activity, Borderlands 4 has seen its concurrent player numbers climb compared to the previous day. The timing isn’t surprising, as Gearbox is allowing players to jump into the game during its free weekend, giving newcomers an opportunity to experience the latest entry without immediately paying for it.

However, there is another reason Borderlands 4 is currently attracting attention.

Borderlands 4’s New Character Loveless Is Turning Heads

Meet Loveless, one of the newest playable characters in Borderlands 4. The character has quickly become a talking point among fans, thanks not only to her combat abilities but also to her provocative visual design.

Loveless is described as a “superior life form” and a cybernetically enhanced fighter with a split psyche. Her gameplay focuses heavily on aggression, speed, and agility, allowing her to overwhelm enemies through fast-paced combat.

Of course, her character design is generating just as much discussion online.

Players who purchase the Ornate Order Pack for €9.99 can get an exclusive Loveless skin with a particularly revealing design. The content is also available to players who already own it through the Super Deluxe Edition and Vault Hunter Pack.

While it’s difficult to determine exactly how much Loveless has contributed to the game’s recent player increase, there’s no denying that the character has generated plenty of conversation across social media and gaming communities.

For Gearbox, the combination of a free weekend and new content could be exactly what Borderlands 4 needs to bring back existing players while introducing the game to a new audience.

Whether those newcomers stick around after the free weekend ends will be the real test.
